It all started back in 1999, when Julie and Jeff Fernstrom moved to the UK. Jeff got a fantastic opportunity to work overseas, so they packed up and settled across the pond. Julie had no idea that their transatlantic adventure would lead her to her true calling.
With their family and friends all back home. Julie needed a new hobby. She had always had an eye for unique, vintage pieces and loved to shop, so she began to explore the world of antiques in their new surroundings.
With a goal in mind, she began traveling from local store to local store seeking out unique, one-of-kind antique and vintage pieces. In no time, Julie became a pro.
Years passed and she continued to explore the UK searching and her collection grew, including everything from furniture to picture frames.
The Start of the Store
Eight years and two 40 foot containers later, Brimfield was created in Chicago. With the amount of antiques Julie had collected over the years, she decided to turn her passion into a business.
The historic and unique neighborhood of Andersonville was a natural fit. It made perfect sense to plant Brimfield's roots on Clark Street, and eight years later, it's a neighborhood institution.
For the last eight wonderful years, Brimfield has evolved into more than just a store. Brimfield is about providing our customers with unique, one-of-a kind finds, pieces, and experiences. From small home decor items to custom 150-year-old reclaimed wood dining room tables, we want our customers and clients to take advantage of the diversity of the collection and our passion for breathing new life into old treasures.
There is something for everyone, as long as you want a piece that is unique.
So, don’t take our word for it, come in and let us help you.
